You can safely download Amnezia VPN from four places: the official site amnezia.org, the project's releases page on GitHub
(github.com/amnezia-vpn), Google Play and the App Store. The site's computer buttons lead to the same GitHub files,
so they share one source. Below: exactly what each place holds for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iPhone, how to check that a file
is genuine, and what to do with the download next. Everything here is as of 4 October 2026.

itself away by a different publisher, a different page address or a file from somewhere else. The program is free, but empty on its
own: you add a connection to it separately.

Where to download Amnezia VPN on each system
The project has two programs: the full AmneziaVPN and the lightweight AmneziaWG client (how they differ is covered in the PC article). The official places for both:

“Amnezia VPN GitHub download” means the page github.com/amnezia-vpn/amnezia-client/releases. Take the release with the green
“Latest” label: beta and archived builds sit next to it, and the project itself sends people to the same page for them, but an ordinary
installation needs the latest stable one.
How to tell the real thing from a fake
A fake looks the same and has the same name; what differs is who published it. There are four checks, each under a minute.
- The publisher in the store. In the App Store both of the project's programs are published by Privacy Technologies OU; in Google Play the developer is called “AmneziaVPN”. On 4 October 2026 a search for “amnezia” in the Russian App Store also showed apps with similar names from other publishers. The name proves nothing; look at the line under it.
- The page address. In Google Play the app ID is visible in the address after
id=:org.amnezia.vpnfor AmneziaVPN,org.amnezia.awgfor AmneziaWG. On GitHub the address must start withgithub.com/amnezia-vpn/, not a lookalike name. - The file checksum. On a GitHub release page each file is shown with its SHA-256 sum. Compute yours and compare:
on Windows,
Get-FileHashplus the file name in PowerShell; on Mac,shasum -a 256; on Linux,sha256sum. If they differ, it is the wrong file: delete it. - Where the link came from. Software catalogues, file-sharing sites and links in chats hand you a file with the right name and no way to check it. Type amnezia.org yourself rather than following an ad with a similar name.
One more sign: the real program is free, and AmneziaVPN's code is open (GPL-3.0 licence). A “cracked version”, a “mod”, or an installer that asks you to pay for the program itself is a reason to close the page. If the site or the store does not open
- amnezia.org. The downloads page itself lists a mirror of the site:
storage.googleapis.com/amnezia/amnezia.org. The computer files and APKs are on GitHub and can be downloaded straight from the releases page. - The App Store on iPhone. AmneziaVPN is not in the Russian store. The project's documentation offers two paths: an Apple account from another country, or their alternative app DefaultVPN (publisher AMNEZIA UNIPESSOAL LDA), which is in the Russian App Store. The version matters for a practical reason. The current AmneziaWG 3.1 added fields that 1.5 and 2.0 did not have: an old client simply will not open a new config (what changed). If your config is fresh, your client needs to be fresh too.
Downloaded it: what next
After installation the program is empty: there is not a single server in it. Three roads lead on, each with its own article:

Mayak: ready settings instead of hunting for a config
We are a service with ready settings on the same AmneziaWG 3.1. You do not need an Amnezia client for it:
- Android. Our own app for Android 7.0 and newer, version 0.7.40, from Google Play or as a file from our home page. The rule of this article applies to us too: install only from those two places. The store version will not install over the site version and vice versa, since their signatures differ.
- iPhone and a computer. No apps of our own yet. iPhone: the subscription link in INCY; Windows and Mac: in Happ; Linux: our AmneziaWG file, checked with a live tunnel (where to tap).
- The trial is 3 days on two devices after you confirm your email, no card; plans cover 3 to 10 devices (help).
One source instead of three. The Mayak app installs from Google Play or as a file from our home page, and fetches its settings from the server by itself. We ask for no payment details for the trial. A confirmed email opens the access — 3 free days on two devices. An email is optional: without one the trial is 1 day.

What we do not know
- How the Amnezia programs install and run on your device. We checked what lies where, but did not install them live.
- Whether the Google Play listings are visible to a Russian account. We viewed them from outside Russia.
- What the stores will hold tomorrow. Catalogues change: check the publisher on the app page on the day you install.
- What is inside the fakes. We did not download or take apart the lookalikes, which is exactly why we advise against them.
