Happ not working: why, and what to do

Yesterday Happ connected, today it does not: the servers will not load, the ping is empty, or it says “connected” and sites do not open. Reinstalling it is usually pointless: Happ is a client with no servers of its own, and what breaks is more often not Happ but what it connects to. Below: how to find the break in five minutes.

In short. When “Happ does not work”, the break is usually in one of four places: the provider’s subscription ran out or a server died; the server list did not update; another app of the same kind or a wrong clock gets in the way on the phone; or the network — it works on Wi-Fi and not on mobile data. First steps: check the end date in the subscription line, update the subscription, check the ping and switch networks. The five-minute order is below. Happ has no connection log according to its publisher’s documentation, but it does show errors and ping.

First, tell three pictures apart

“Happ does not work” looks three different ways, and the causes differ. Find yours — it saves half of the checks.

The servers do not load. The subscription will not update, the list is empty, or Happ shows an error on update. The break is between you and the subscription address: what the errors mean.
There are servers, but no connection. The ping is empty, the connection does not come up or drops at once. The break is between you and the server, or at the server itself: causes below.
Connected, but sites do not open. The tunnel is up, the traffic is not. A common cause is that the time ran out; the rest are covered separately: “connected, but nothing loads”.

If no app of this kind connects at all, not just Happ, that is a different picture, with causes on the network side: why none of them comes up.

What Happ shows by itself: errors, ping and the subscription line

The publisher’s documentation has no connection log, and we will not invent a screen for it. But Happ does give three hints, and all three are described by the publisher.

Errors when adding or updating a subscription. The most useful one here is Timeout while adding a subscription: Happ asked the subscription address and got no answer within 9 seconds. So the subscription address cannot be reached from your network right now, or it is not answering. The other errors on the publisher’s list are about a wrong link (“The subscription URL is not valid”, “Clipboard is empty”, “Configuration is not valid”): copying the link again fixes them.

The subscription line. If the provider sends it, Happ shows the subscription end date and the traffic used. The date has passed — the answer is found, no need to look further. There may also be the provider’s support icon — that is their contact, not Happ’s.

Three kinds of ping. They split the causes in half:

And one more mark: a red exclamation mark on a routing profile. According to the documentation it means the rule files for the profile did not download within 3 minutes. If the problem is in the app itself, the publisher asks you to report it through its own form — issues.happ.su.

Why Happ stopped working: seven causes, each with a check

Each cause comes with a sign and a check. The order starts with those you can check in seconds.

The provider’s subscription ran out. Sign: the date in the subscription line has passed, and the via-proxy ping is empty on all servers at once. A key added as a single line shows no date at all. What to do: renew with whoever gave you the link. Happ has nothing to do with it — it sells nothing.
The server died or the key was changed. The most common case with free keys: thousands of people share one key, the server cannot cope, and the owner changes the key or shuts the server down. Sign: the TCP ping is silent while other sites open. Why free keys die fast — a separate breakdown.
The server list is out of date. Happ updates the subscription itself: at the set interval, and if that time was missed — at the next launch. The provider changed addresses, and you have the old list. What to do: update the subscription manually and see whether an error from the section above comes up.
Another app of the same kind took the place. Only one such connection runs on a phone at a time: the Android documentation says the previous one is switched off when a new one starts; Apple’s says only one such configuration can be enabled. The phone’s clock is off. For the VMess protocol, per the Xray documentation, the clock must be within 120 seconds of the exact time. For VLESS with REALITY such a check is a server setting. What to do: turn on automatic date and time on the phone and reconnect.
Sending the device identifier is switched off. According to the publisher’s documentation, Happ sends the provider a device identifier (HWID); it is on by default, but it can be switched off in settings. A provider that counts devices may not give out servers without it. This also covers “all slots are taken”: with a provider that limits devices, a new one will not be added.
The network. Sign: it works on Wi-Fi and not on mobile data — or the other way round. Then it is not Happ and not the phone. A network can stop letting a certain kind of connection through — we have seen that in our own measurements on another protocol: what the first packet decides. And if on mobile data only Gosuslugi, your bank and other listed services open, that is the whitelist mode. In it, only the list is open on mobile data, and a server that is not on it cannot be reached; on Wi-Fi everything is as usual. What works in that mode.

One more cause is shared by all such apps on Android: the phone puts them to sleep to save battery, and the connection “dies” by itself, most often overnight. A breakdown with our numbers — why it disconnects by itself; the numbers there are about our app, the mechanism is shared.

Happ not working on iPhone, and Happ Plus

On iPhone, two causes of its own are added to the seven above.

The TestFlight build expired. For Russia the publisher also gives a link to TestFlight — Apple’s beta-build program. Under Apple’s rules a TestFlight build becomes unavailable after 90 days. If Happ from there suddenly stopped opening, check in the TestFlight app whether the build has expired.
The release disappeared from the store. Happ Plus and Happ Lite are not in the Russian App Store right now: we checked Apple’s catalogue on the night of 23 September 2026. Happ Plus, according to catalogue watchers, vanished from all storefronts back on 25 June 2026. Such copies get no updates through the Russian store. And the “App Store — Only RU” link on the publisher’s GitHub page pointed, on 23 September, to Happ Lite, which was no longer in the catalogue.

So “Happ Plus does not work” more often means the same as with ordinary Happ — the causes in the list above; if not, it is an old release that no longer updates. On an iPhone with a Russian account the same subscription link also works in INCY (publisher LLC ITDEV): it is in the Russian App Store, and we verified it with our link with a live connection on 22 September 2026. What to do if Happ is not working: a five-minute order

From quick to slow. After each step, try to connect.

Look at the subscription line. The date has passed — renew with the provider, no need to go further.
Update the subscription manually. A timeout error came up — the subscription address does not answer from this network; go to step 4.
Check the ping — TCP and via proxy. TCP is silent — the server cannot be reached; only the proxy one is silent — the connection itself does not come together. Try another server from the list.
Switch networks. Wi-Fi to mobile data and back, within the same minute. A different answer — the network is to blame.
Check the phone. Is another app of the same kind on; are date and time automatic; is sending the device identifier switched off in Happ settings.
Update Happ — from the same place you installed it from. On iPhone, check whether the TestFlight build has expired.
Write to the provider. Not to Happ — it runs no servers. Say which of the three pictures you have and what the ping showed: the conversation will take a minute, not an evening.

If your provider is gone: what we can offer

Sometimes the cause is found, but there is nobody to fix it: the free key died, the provider does not answer. Then you need another provider — and one of the options is us. Briefly and without promises:

For Happ and INCY — a subscription link from your account: our servers, the access end date shown in the subscription line, Happ updates the list itself. What is in it and what it costs, and what each of our refusals means — in the neighbouring article.
On Android — our own app: it needs no link, and it tries several connection routes by itself when one stops working.
Our link requires the device identifier. If sending it is switched off in Happ, switch it on or add a device in your account — it will get a link of its own. Every device takes a slot of your plan.
The clock. No clock tolerance is set on our servers, so by design the clock should not get in the way with our link. We have not tested that live with a wrong clock.
What we do not promise. That it “always works” with us: your network is your own, and the answer on it will be your own. In the whitelist mode Mayak will not connect on mobile data — neither with the app nor with the link. We have not verified Happ with our link on Windows and Mac live.

What we tested

What Happ shows by itself — from the publisher’s documentation, read on 23 September 2026: the list of errors (subscription timeout — 9 seconds), three kinds of ping, the subscription line, auto-update, sending the device identifier, the mark on a routing profile. There is no connection-log screen there.
One connection on a phone — from the Android and Apple developer documentation.
The clock — from the Xray documentation (VMess, 120 seconds) and REALITY (the check is a server setting, off by default); on our side — from the code that builds our servers’ settings.
TestFlight — from Apple’s documentation (90 days).
Apple’s catalogue — ourselves, on the night of 23 September 2026: Happ Lite and Happ Plus are in neither the Russian nor the US store; the main Happ is only in the US one.

What we do not know

What exactly Happ writes on screen when a provider refuses (the time ran out, no identifier, slots taken). The publisher’s documentation does not give these texts, and we have not captured them.
Whether Happ keeps the previous server list when an update fails. The documentation says nothing about it.
What is going on with your provider. We cannot see whether their server is alive today — so to “Happ not working today” there is one honest answer: check in the order above.
Whether already installed Happ Plus and Happ Lite still work. We only know they are not in the store and will get no updates through it.
How Happ behaves on Windows and Mac. We have not tested it there with anyone’s link.
How your network will behave. We cannot see it — which is why “switch networks” is step four in the order, not the last one.

Short answers

Why is Happ not working? Most often not because of Happ: the subscription ran out, a server died, the list did not update, another app or the network gets in the way. Seven causes, each with a check — above.

Happ not working today — is it everyone? Happ has no common server that could go down for everyone at once: each provider has its own servers. If it fails for everyone you know on one provider, the cause is that provider or a shared network.

The Happ subscription is not working — what do I do? Check the end date in the subscription line and update it manually. If the link is ours, every refusal is named in words: the refusals table.

Happ is connected, but there is no internet? Check the via-proxy ping and the end date. Other causes are in a separate breakdown.

Happ does not work on mobile data but works on Wi-Fi? It is the network, not Happ. If only listed services open on mobile data — that is the whitelist mode.

Happ Plus is not working — is it a different app? It is a release by the same publisher; the causes are the same, plus it no longer updates through the Russian store.

Happ not working on a PC? The same order: the subscription line, an update, the ping, another network. We have not tested Happ on Windows and Mac. On Linux the path we tested is different — a settings file from your account.

Does reinstalling Happ help? Rarely: the server list and the end date live with the provider, not in the app. Updating Happ from the same place you installed it from is useful; removing and reinstalling usually is not.
