Happ on PC: where to download the real one and how to connect on Windows and Mac

Installing Happ on a PC is as easy as on a phone, but you look for it on the publisher's page rather than in a store — and that is exactly where it is easiest to end up with someone else's file under the right name. Below: where the real Happ for Windows, Mac and Linux lives, which file to pick, how to pass a subscription link to it in a minute, and how to keep that link away from strangers. Everything here is as of 4 October 2026.

In short. Happ for PC is a free download from the publisher's release page on GitHub: setup-Happ.x64.exe for an ordinary Windows computer, Happ.macOS.universal.dmg for any Mac. Then take a subscription link from your provider and add it to Happ: “+” → “Import from clipboard”. With our link this path has been checked with a live connection on Windows 11 and Mac. The link works like a password: do not hand it to unknown programs or people.

We make Mayak, a private network. Our own app is for Android; for Windows and Mac we provide a subscription link for Happ. This article is about Happ on a computer in general; only one section is about us.

Where to download Happ for PC: only from the publisher

Happ is published by Flyfrog LLC — the name in the footer of the publisher's site happ.info (the old address happ.su now forwards there). The desktop version is released on GitHub, in the Happ-proxy/happ-desktop repository: both the buttons on the publisher's site and the “Download for Windows” or “Download for Mac” button on our connection page lead there. It is one and the same file, and you need no other source.

  • Happ is free. If “download Happ for PC” asks for money, a phone number or an “activation”, it is not the publisher.
  • Download sites, torrents, “portable versions” and links from chats: skip them. It is easy to get someone else's file with the same name there, and you have nothing to check it with. Later you will paste the key to your access into that program.
  • How to be sure you are in the right place: the address bar shows github.com/Happ-proxy/happ-desktop/releases, and the release has no Pre-release label.

Where to get the subscription itself and how it differs from a free key is covered in “Subscriptions and keys for Happ”. This article is only about the computer.

Which file to pick for your system

The release page has nine files. You need one:

ComputerFileDetails
Windows on Intel or AMD setup-Happ.x64.exe, about 119 MB Most desktops and laptops. How to check the processor
Windows on ARM setup-Happ.arm64.exe, about 84 MB Only if “System type” names an ARM-based processor
Mac with Apple silicon or Intel Happ.macOS.universal.dmg, about 137 MB One file for both. If macOS will not open it
Linux .deb, .rpm or .pkg.tar.zst, for x64 and arm64 We have not tested Happ on Linux; our tested path there is different

Which release. The latest link points to the latest regular release — as of 4 October 2026 that is 4.3.0 of 15 September. Above it the page lists 4.4.x preview builds marked Pre-release (the newest is 4.4.8 of 28 September): we have not tested them and do not recommend them.

Which system you need. Per the publisher's documentation, the desktop version runs on Windows 10 from build 1809 and on Windows 11, on macOS 13 and newer, and on current Linux releases such as Ubuntu 22.04 and Debian 11.6. For Windows 7 and 8 the publisher keeps an old 1.0.2 release — we have not tested it, and Windows 7 itself has long had no updates from Microsoft, so we would not put it on such a machine.

How to connect Happ on a PC: a subscription link in a minute

The steps are the same on Windows, Mac and Linux. Here is how they look with our link.

  1. Install and launch Happ. On Windows it is a normal installer, on Mac a disk image from which you move the app to Applications.
  2. Open your Mayak account on the same computer: the “Connecting by link” card → “Show the link”.
  3. Pass the link to Happ — either way works:
    • “Open the connection page” → “Open in Happ”: the browser hands the link to the program. The same page has a “Download for Windows” or “Download for Mac” button if Happ is not installed yet;
    • “Copy” → in Happ “+” → “Import from clipboard”. The labels in the desktop version may differ slightly from the phone app.
  4. Pick a country and switch the connection on. The servers arrive under the name “Mayak Networks”, each with a flag and a country name; Happ keeps the list up to date on its own.
  5. Check it: open the IP address check — the country should change to the server's. That shows the browser goes through the server; other checks are in “How to check that a VPN works”.

Opening your account right on the computer is the easier way: you do not have to send the link to yourself from your phone — and forwarding it through a messenger is the most common way a key ends up in the wrong place.

The subscription link is a key: how not to give it away

Without a link Happ is empty: it has no servers, they all come through the link. So whoever gets your link will connect to your access — and take up a slot in your plan.

  • Paste it only into Happ downloaded from the publisher. Not into “online subscription checkers”, not into look-alike programs from an unknown publisher.
  • Do not forward or post it — including in a screenshot when asking for help. To connect someone close to you, we have plan slots with a separate login for each person: how it works.
  • If it leaked, change it in your account. The old one stops working at once; add the new one to Happ again.
  • Opening the link in a browser does not take a slot. A slot is taken by the device whose program loaded the servers from it. A computer is a device just like a phone (how many a plan has).

If Happ does not connect on your computer

The general order for finding the break with any provider is in “Happ is not working”. Here are three causes seen most often on a computer:

  • A message about the Happ service on Windows. In the 4.3.0 release notes the publisher says it improved connecting when the service is slow to start, and that the program now plainly suggests reinstalling if the service cannot start. If you see that, reinstall Happ from the same release page.
  • The server list is empty. The link was copied only in part, or it was changed in your account. Open the link in a browser: our page names the reason in words.
  • All plan slots are taken. Remove a device you no longer need in your account, under “Devices”.

The AmneziaWG settings file from your account will not help on Windows and Mac: third-party apps on those systems do not accept it yet (why). On Windows and Mac the way to Mayak is the subscription link.

Mayak on a computer: what exists today

  • Windows and Mac — Happ with the subscription link from your account. We do not have our own apps for them yet and give no dates. By system: a VPN for Windows and a VPN for Mac; the overview is a VPN for a computer and laptop.
  • Linux — the path we tested is not Happ but the AmneziaWG settings file from your account, the “File for Linux” card (where to click).
  • What the link carries. Our servers and one connection method — X-ray (VLESS with REALITY). Happ does not cycle through paths automatically the way our Android app does.
  • How many devices. Plans differ by the number of devices, not by speed: “Start” up to 3, “Family” up to 5, “Max” up to 10 (what it costs). The trial is 3 days on two devices after you confirm your email: a computer and a phone both fit.
  • What we do not promise. That it will “always work” for you: your network is your own, and the answer on it will be your own.

Try it on your own computer. Create an account, open “Connecting by link” in it and press “Open in Happ”. We ask for no payment details for the trial. A confirmed email opens the access — 3 free days.

What we checked

  • Happ on Windows 11 and on Mac with a Mayak subscription link — a live connection, 25 September 2026.
  • Files and releases — from the publisher's release page on GitHub, 4 October 2026: regular release 4.3.0 of 15 September, nine files and their sizes, preview 4.4.8 of 28 September; the line about the Windows service is there too.
  • Who the publisher is and where its site points — the happ.info site and the GitHub repository description, 4 October 2026: the desktop buttons lead to the same release page.
  • System requirements — from the publisher's documentation, read on 4 October 2026.
  • The connection page buttons (“Download for Windows”, “Download for Mac”, “Open in Happ”) and the fact that viewing the link in a browser takes no slot — from our server code.

What we do not know

  • How Happ behaves on Windows 10. The publisher supports it from 1809, but we tested only Windows 11 live.
  • How Happ works on Linux, and how the old 1.0.2 release works. Not tested.
  • Whether Happ routes the whole computer through the server or only programs that read the system proxy settings. An IP check in the browser shows only the browser.
  • Which macOS version our check ran on. We did not record it or the Mac model.
  • What will change in future Happ releases. File and button names are up to the publisher — check the release page.
  • How the connection will behave on your network. Only you can see that. If it did not work, tell us your system and Happ version.

Quick answers

How do I download Happ for PC? From the publisher's release page on GitHub: setup-Happ.x64.exe for Windows, Happ.macOS.universal.dmg for Mac. The “Download” button on our connection page leads to the same place.

Is Happ for PC paid? No, the program is free. You pay whoever gives you the subscription link: Happ has no servers of its own.

Is Happ VPN for PC a VPN by itself? It is a client: it connects to the servers from the link. Without a link it connects nowhere.

Which Happ for Windows — x64 or arm64? x64 for Intel and AMD computers, arm64 only for Windows on ARM. See “System type” under Settings → System → About.

Is there Happ for Windows 7? The publisher keeps a 1.0.2 release for old systems. We have not tested it and do not recommend it: Windows 7 itself no longer gets updates.

Can one subscription cover a phone and a PC? Yes. The link is the same for all your devices, but each one takes a plan slot. On Android you can install our app instead of Happ; on iPhone, Happ or INCY.
