Happ on Android takes a minute to install: it is on Google Play, and it accepts a subscription link just as it does on iPhone and on a computer. Below: where to get the real Happ, how to add a link to it, and what changes if you install Mayak's own app instead — how the two differ for you, not in theory. Everything here is as of 4 October 2026.
In short. Happ for Android comes from Google Play (“Happ - Proxy Utility”) or as the Happ.apk file from the publisher's
GitHub page; to add a subscription, tap “+” → “Import from clipboard”. Happ on Android will accept our link, but Mayak's
own app is simpler: it needs no link, you sign in with your account number, and it works through four connection attempts on its own
instead of one method. Each of them takes one plan slot; both on one phone take two.
We make Mayak, a private network with its own Android app; for iPhone and computers we provide a subscription link for Happ. This article is about Happ on Android and how it differs from our app.
🍎 On iPhone Mayak works with the subscription link from your account, in Happ or INCY (INCY is in the Russian App Store): what is going on with Happ on iPhone.
Where to download Happ for Android
The real Happ for Android has two sources, and the publisher's site happ.info points to both:
- Google Play. The listing is called “Happ - Proxy Utility”. The developer is shown as HappDev, and the developer
details at the bottom of the listing give the site
happ.suand the company Flyfrog — the same one that publishes Happ for iPhone and computers. It has more than 10 million downloads. - APK file. For phones without Google Play the publisher posts
Happ.apkon GitHub, in theHapp-proxy/happ-androidrepository. As of 4 October 2026 that is release 4.6.1 of 30 September; next to it is a beta build,Happ_beta.apk, which we do not recommend.
Everything else — app download sites, “Happ Plus mod”, files from chats — skip it: it is easy to get someone else's program with the right icon there, and you would paste the key to your access into it. Per the publisher's documentation, Happ runs on Android 5.0 and newer.
How to add a subscription to Happ
Without a subscription Happ is empty: it has no servers. Where to get a subscription and how it differs from a free key is in “Subscriptions and keys for Happ”. With our link the steps are:
- In your account: the “Connecting by link” card → “Show the link”.
- “Copy” → in Happ “+” → “Import from clipboard”.
- Let Android create the secure connection — the system dialog appears once.
- Pick a “Mayak Networks” server in the country you want and switch it on.
If you open our link in a browser on Android, the connection page first offers not Happ but our app: on this system that is what we recommend — the reasons are right below.
Happ or Mayak's app: what the difference means for you
The access is the same, the servers are the same. What differs is how the phone reaches them and what you have to do:
| Happ with a link | Mayak's app | |
|---|---|---|
| How you sign in | You copy the subscription link from your account and paste it into Happ | With your account number or email and password; you can create the account right in the app. No link needed |
| What sits on the phone | A link that works like a password: if strangers get it, they connect | This phone's key; its secret half never leaves the phone |
| Connection paths | One method — X-ray. If it fails, you pick another server yourself | Four attempts in a row, automatically: direct in two ways, via an entry point in Russia, and a fallback channel. The screen shows which one worked |
| Russian services outside the tunnel | Happ routing profiles (per the publisher's documentation) | The “RU Apps” preset (what it is) |
| Plan slots | One | One |
| Android version needed | 5.0 or newer (per documentation) | 7.0 or newer |
| Tested by us on Android | No: not tested live with our link on Android | Yes: we build it and test every release |
The key row is the third. When a network stops letting one kind of connection through, an app with one method simply fails to connect, while ours moves on to the next attempt. How many connections each step brings up, from our log, — in “Four attempts instead of one”; how it works inside — in the article on connection paths.
If both are on your phone
- Only one works at a time. Android keeps one such connection alive: turn on a second app and the first one disconnects. Keep one switched on.
- Two slots are taken. The server counts Happ and our app as different devices, even on one phone. On the “Start” plan with three slots you will notice.
- Moving from Happ to our app — install it, sign in with the same account, and remove the Happ device in your account, under “Devices”. There is no link to carry over.
When Happ on Android is a sensible choice
We recommend our own app, but there are cases where Happ is honestly more convenient:
- An old phone on Android 5 or 6. Our app needs 7.0 and will not install on it; per its publisher's documentation, Happ will.
- You already keep other subscriptions in Happ and want everything in one list. Our link will sit next to them.
- You are used to Happ on iPhone or a computer and want the same thing everywhere. That is a fair reason; just remember it has one connection method.
Mayak's Android app: what exists today
- Version 0.7.40 — both on Google Play and as a file on the home page (as of 4 October 2026). Android 7.0 or newer. The store and site versions cannot be installed over each other: the signatures differ (what the phone says).
- What it does not ask for: contacts, messages, location, files, or payment details for the trial. More on permissions and Android settings — in “VPN for Android”.
- What it does beyond connecting: keeps traffic from leaving without protection (how to turn it on), reconnects by itself after a reboot, a quick-settings tile, and a “Check the connection” button.
- The same account works on an Android TV set (sign-in with an on-screen code), and on iPhone and computers through the link in Happ: iPhone, PC. Plans: “Start” up to 3 devices, “Family” up to 5, “Max” up to 10 (what it costs).
Try it on your own phone. Install the app and create an account right in it — no link to copy. We ask for no payment details for the trial. A confirmed email opens the access — 3 free days on two devices. An email is optional: without one the trial is 1 day.
What we checked
- Happ's Google Play listing — 4 October 2026: name, developer HappDev, the site happ.su and the company Flyfrog in the developer details, more than 10 million downloads.
- The GitHub file — 4 October 2026: release 4.6.1 of 30 September,
Happ.apkand a beta build. The Android 5.0 requirement is from the publisher's documentation. - Our app's version — from our version file, 4 October 2026: 0.7.40 both on the site and on Google Play.
- The four attempts — from the app's code and our connection log (how we counted).
- That Happ and our app on one phone take two slots, and that the link page on Android offers our app first, — from our server code.
What we do not know
- How Happ behaves with our link on Android. Not tested live: it is the same link as on iPhone and computers, where we did test it, but on Android we test our own app.
- How Happ's routing profiles handle Russian services. We only know what the publisher's documentation says.
- Whether Happ really works on Android 5 and 6. That is the publisher's word, not our measurement.
- How the connection will behave on your network. Only you can see that. If it did not work, tell us your phone model and operator.
Quick answers
How do I download Happ for Android? From Google Play (“Happ - Proxy Utility”) or as the Happ.apk file from
the publisher's GitHub page. Not from download sites or chats.
Is Happ VPN for Android free? The app itself is. It has no servers: you pay whoever gives you the subscription link.
Do I need Happ if Mayak has its own app? For our subscription on Android, usually not: our app is simpler and tries the paths by itself. Happ makes sense on old Android or if your other subscriptions already live in it.
Can I move my subscription from Happ to Mayak's app? There is nothing to move: sign in to the app with the same account, and remove the Happ device in your account.
Happ on Android does not connect. Start with the term line, a subscription refresh and another network — the five-minute check. If another app of this kind is on, Happ lost its place.
What about an Android tablet or TV? A tablet is like a phone. TVs have their own article.
